Steven Chudova

Steven Chudova was born in 1929 in New Jersey. The first view of Steven Chudova’s painting reveals and exquisite sensitivity of the human figure. The richness of his colors, the deep blues and purples of his pallet, enhances the quiet moods and the arrested moments which he loves to capture ... like those very moments we wish, so often, that we can keep forever.
Yet his art seems to be a contradiction to his early formative influences. Chudova is a product of the ironbound area of Newark, N.J. In the army, he fought in the ring. Later he worked as an automobile mechanic, wrecker and iron worker. Of course during all of this he was studying and preparing himself for a career in Art.
While Steven Chudova is best known for his figure work, he often escapes into both Landscapes & Abstractions. He also has works with charcoal as well as Oil and Oil Pastel combined.
He is widely collected. Four of his Abstractions are hanging in the Permanent Collection of the Teaneck Medical Center. Photographs of paintings by Steven Chudova, Circa 1970 through 1972, have been photographed and placed in the Archives and Special Collections, Smithsonian American Art Museum.
